MOTHER-OF-PEARL, also known as nacre, comes from the cultivation of mollusks in tropical seas and Australia. It is a natural, hard, and iridescent organic material that lines the inside of shells. Composed mainly of calcium carbonate, it is known for its pearlescent luster.

Mother-of-pearl features iridescent reflections and rainbow tones that vary with the angle of light; as a natural product, it is rarely perfect, unlike "nacarina," its imitation, which always has a uniform and flat color.
