Jewellery care

Over time and with use, jewellery needs cleaning. Follow these instructions to keep it looking as good as new:

Silver is a metal that oxidises on contact with air. It is also greatly affected by the pH of our skin, sweat, chemicals, salt water, etc., so it is very important not to wear this type of jewellery when applying perfume, playing sports or bathing. The durability of gold or rhodium plating will depend on these measures.

To clean them, we need

  • Hot water
  • A soft-bristled brush
  • Neutral soap
  • A cotton cloth to dry them

Enamelled pieces cannot withstand high temperatures or chemicals such as perfume, bleach, disinfectant, etc. This must be taken into account in order to prolong the life of the jewellery.

Gold and diamonds become dull with use due to dirt. To clean them, we need:

  • Hot water
  • A soft-bristled brush
  • Neutral soap
  • A cotton cloth to dry them

Pearls are organic in origin and their natural environment is water, so they will appreciate it when you clean them. They will retain their lustre (their natural shine) if we maintain them properly. To do this, we need:

  • Perfumes, lacquers, creams...
  • Sources of heat and cold
  • Store them in plastic, as they need to breathe.
  • Any items that may scratch them

And when we don't know what we're going to clean?

Sometimes, our silver and gold jewellery is combined with other elements that we do not know what they are:

Enamels, gems, synthetic materials... When in doubt, exercise caution.

In these cases, to clean them we need:

  • Warm water
  • Neutral soap
  • A cotton cloth to dry them
